Yes, I have WAY too much time on my hands, so go ahead and laugh! This little critter is good for testing your predator lights and finding out just how far your light will I.D. the furry things. As you can see, it's a simple design, using reflective material for the eyes (SEARS sign material), a softball, a 2 litre bottle, and some sand. The ball has a long woodscrew screwed into the bottom, and mechanics wire is attached to the screw head. The other end of the wire is attached to a good sized fishing weight which reaches the bottom of the bottle.
Pour in some play sand and set your test fox out at about 100 yards (or whatever distance you measure) and see if you can light up the eyes AND body at night with your predator light. The sand also helps to approximate the body color of a fox at night as well, and the whole setup is about the size of a small fox sitting down facing you. Once you can ID the fox, get your rifle or shotgun and fire away, because this is made to be a replaceable target also. If you can hit this smaller target consistently at night, you'll be able to take a fox easily, as they are bigger.......
Remember that distances at night as we perceive them are vastly different than the daytime, especially with a red light, so make sure you practice at night with this test fox at several measured distances. Now stop laughing and go make a few!
